I know that sounds uncomfortable.

I didn’t want to hear it either.My name is Heather Watson, and for seven long years, my son Jonas wet the bed.

Not once in a while.

Not during stressful phases. Every single night.

But the hardest part didn’t happen at night.

It happened during the day.

By age seven, Jonas:

Refused sleepovers
Avoided school trips
Whispered apologies in the morning

He started to feel ashamed and it really limited his social life.

And it was my fault.

Kindergarten Was Where it began

When we introduced him to a local kindergarten one of the prerequisites was for him to be dry over the day.

But he wasnt dry at all.

We tried normal potty training for a long time already.

We build routines.

We made him use a mood board.

Out of desperation we even used stickers and rewards, which most people clearly advise against.

The facts were:

Most children were already dry.

My child wasn’t.

And I didnt put the effort in that was needed.

Nap time was terrifying.

School trips were a nightmare.

Any situation where sleep was involved came with fear and panic.

My child worried constantly:
